MEOW Website News:

The MEOW website has been in existence for a number of years. It was a basic functional website. Today, more members have Internet access and expect more from MEOW’s website. The website is run by MEOW members for MEOW members.

Currently, there are 43 pages of information on the website. Cost to host website is $185 per year (4/07 budget figures). Software for both web mistresses, one time purchase $66.

Navigation of website. Tami is working on the navigation of each Area Group page. Incorporating pictures, class schedules, maps to group meetings ensure each member and interested non-member can access MEOW area group meetings and see the fun things our groups are doing. These pages will also recognize businesses that allow MEOW groups a place to meet.

MEOW media. Have newsletters, seminar brochures, director reports, etc. available on the website for all members to access.

Advertising on web page. MEOW has many sponsors, from area businesses, corporate sponsors that donate for raffle items, individual MEOW members with businesses, etc. Advertising on our website can generate income. We are not limited to page space and printing concerns. With AD revenue, the website can be self sustaining.

MEOW member interaction. Members can see their names and awards, special projects, group projects, on the net when they win fair ribbons, volunteer on committees, etc. In the future, a secure spot for chatting about projects ideas, etc.

Potential members. SHARING is what MEOW is all about. Having a vehicle (the website) that provides an opportunity to showcase MEOW member work, community service each group provides, and the many talented member projects, to potential members is important. Jan S. indicates there are only about 4 states that have any kind of an organization like MEOW. Having a web site presence is important to bring recognization to our organization.

Secure member login capability. There is information that should not be shared on the website. Name, addresses, phone numbers, budget numbers, etc. When we have a secure login for members only, then this kind of information could be shared via the website.

Events calendar. A calendar of events that MEOW members are participating in, hosting or attending. Events in and around each group’s cities and towns. A calendar of Area Groups projects.

Benefits of a MEOW website:

Savings. With the availability of information on the website, one benefit of the website could be a savings of printing and mailing newsletters and seminar brochures. If members choose to receive their newsletters or seminar brochures via the website, then dollars can be saved in printing and postage.

Special discounts for MEOW members. Several businesses may be willing to offer special discounts to MEOW members in exchange for advertising.

A central source for all MEOW business. Providing a central source of member rosters, events, voting for board members, new bylaws etc., will consolidate our membership and allow for open communication and education.

Using the MEOW website to create our little corner of the world to celebrate our passion and talent; in conjunction with sewing of any kind is experiencing an upswing in popularity, learning, sharing and creating with the magnificent talent our group offers gives us an opportunity to do what MEOW was created for: Sharing.

Send us class schedules: what are you doing for the rest of the year? Why would a new potential member attend your group?

Updates on changes: new area group leader, someone doing a special project that is awesome?

Community Service: We are proud of our community service projects. Share what you are doing!! Send pics, highlight the different organizations you chose to help.

What’s happening in your corner of the world: Would other members be interested to attend, etc. Events, classes, specials from awesome and/or unique stores in your area.
